Lemmings 2: The Tribes

History

Like Lemmings, Lemmings 2: The Tribes is also developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. The game was released on Amiga in 1993 and since then ported to several other platforms (see Versions).

Differences

Lemmings 2: The Tribes was changed on a few parts when compared to the original Lemmings. The player can't change the release rate anymore, but is given a fast forward button which makes the game go faster. This feature was derrived from the arcade version of Lemmings.

Another change is that the lemmings are now devided into twelve tribes, all these tribes have their own graphics and music. The player can guide the lemmings towards the exit with the use of 51 skills instead of the eight original skills. An overview can be seen in Gameplay. Still, the maximum skills available per level is still eight.

Storyline

With Lemmings 2: The Tribes, even a simple storyline was come up with. It was said that the twelve lemmings tribes of Lemmings Island lived happily and peacefully. On one day, however, an ancient prophecy came true: a great darkness fell upon their land. The prophecy told the only way the lemmings could survive was by evacuating their island, using the power of the Lemmings Talisman. talisman consisted of twelve pieces, one owned by each tribe. With the help of the Guide that has helped them before (the player in the original game), all lemmings must now reach the center point of their island in order to escape their doom.
